Where to go cruising in 2020?

One of the best things about cruising is that you can discover a multitude of fabulous destinations in a single trip. We’ve picked out some of our favourite ports of call for next year, including Europe, Alaska and Australia.

Russia

Discover the rich history of this vast country with a choice of memorable cruises. Whether you cruise the Russian waterways or explore the Baltic Sea, this fascinating destination offers unforgettable scenery and plenty of culture. You could journey along the River Volga to see the colourful spires and grand palaces of Russia’s great imperial cities, sail the Black Sea to the sunny Olympic city of Sochi or head north on an expedition cruise to the remote towns of Siberia and the Arctic Circle.

Alaska

Soak up some of the world’s most incredible scenery with an adventure cruise to the most northerly US state. This spectacular Arctic wilderness has everything from dramatic mountains, glaciers and fjords to historic frontier towns where you can hear tales of the Great Gold Rush. Spot wildlife including whales, otters bears and eagles and, when night falls, keep your eyes cast to the heavens for a glimpse of the shimmering Northern Lights.

New Zealand

Travel half-way around the world to New Zealand for a cruise holiday that’s well worth the flight. Packed with adventure, the country’s twin islands may be famous for their epic scenery, but they also offer sophisticated port experiences in the waterfront cities of Auckland and Wellington. The chance to find out more about ancient Maori culture is also a huge draw. Thrill-seeking guests have the chance to try a host of activities from kayaking to bungee-jumping, while those looking for peace and tranquillity can savour exquisite views of snow-capped mountains and sweeping shores.

Australia

For a far-flung trip of a lifetime, the delights of Down Under have a lot to offer. Australia’s coastline boasts everything from iconic cities to deserted paradise beaches. Cruise the Queensland Coast, home of natural wonders like the Great Barrier Reef. Visit the lively destinations of Melbourne and Sydney for wine-tasting, sightseeing and shopping. Or for a truly unique experience, head off the beaten track to remote Western Australia for breathtaking geology and an insight into the country’s Aboriginal heritage.

Far East

With so many beautiful destinations to unearth, this friendly part of the world is set to become a firm cruising favourite. Cruise holidays to Asia may be a relatively new affair, but they offer glorious weather, stunning landscapes and ancient cultural traditions. Immerse yourself in the vibrant history of bustling cities such as Mumbai, Shanghai and Tokyo. Or take a scenic river cruise along the Mekong, passing through Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia.
